Our weather pattern has just changed and storms are coming in. Don’t take your mountain bikes out yet, we will have some great powder days in March and April with no crowds and great Utah Champagne Powder!
We are very sad to report that the Red Moose Lodge has sold and will be converted into a Senior Center and Assisted Living Facility at the end of this ski season. We wish the new owner great success. We want to thank all of our friends and hope that you can join us during March or weekends in April for the last time at the lodge (unless you check in to the Assisted Living Facility!).
I will be here and am happy to arrange deals on Heli ski, Heli board, and snow cat trips in untouched bowls, guided backcountry tours, hot air balloon rides, snowmobile tours, or whatever else the Ogden Valley has to offer. Call the Red Moose desk and please ask for Debbie or me and leave a message if we are on the mountain! Check out our specials page and hope to see you this season! We are booking up fast; don't miss out on your chance to stay before we are closed.
Sincerely,
Ron Rubin, owner
Snowbasin: Snowbasin is a world class ski resort. It is open in the winter for skiing, snowboard, tubing and cross country and during the summer for lift assisted hiking and biking, Frisbee golf, free concerts, and many other events. Snowbasin hosted the downhill events during the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
Powder Mountain: Powder Mountain is laid back ski resort with amazing backcountry possibilities. It is open in the winter for skiing, snowboarding and kite boarding and in the summer for hiking, biking and the Powder Mountain Motocross.
Wolf Mountain: Wolf Mountain is a smaller more affordable mountain just about a mile from the lodge. It is a great mountain for beginners and families and has a fantastic snow park. It is open in the winter for skiing and snowboarding and summer for their concert series.
Wolf Creek Golf Course: Wolf Creek Resort is the only Audubon Society-certified golf course in Utah, it's designed to honor alpine flora and northern Utah fauna, while rewarding golfers with playable links that stay true to the grand traditions of the game. It is open to the public on a daily green fee basis, and memberships are available.
Pineview Reservoir: Pineview Reservoir is a very popular summer destination set at the top of Ogden Canyon along the Wasatch Mountains. It can get quite crowded with boaters, wake boarders and water-skiers on summer weekends. Nice beaches attract a lot of sunbathers and swimmers. Fishing is for crappie, pearch and huge tiger muskie. Club Rec has boat and water ski rentals right on the lake. The lodge has plenty of parking for boats as well!
Causey Reservoir: Activities at Causey Reservoir include boating and fishing. There are no dedicated boat-launch facilities, and wakeless speeds only are allowed so it is a great place for a kayak or canoe. Swimming and cliff-jumping are also popular. Fishing includes several trout varieties, including rainbow, cutthroat, and brown and it has been stocked with Kokanee.
Red Cliff Ranch: The Red Cliff Ranch is one of Utah's oldest working ranches. They have a little cowboy cafe and offer horseback rides. They are also outfitters and guides and offer hunts and guided fishing trips.
North Fork Park: The North Fork Park is an amazing area year round. In the summer, it is one of the most beautiful and extensive parks in Weber County. Don't be misled by the term "park," however. Instead of lawns, you'll find campgrounds, corrals, and natural groves and meadows. In the winter it becomes a great place to cross-country ski, snowshoe or winter camping for the brave. Watch for moose!
Ogden Valley Balloon Festival: The Ogden Valley Balloon Festival is three days of hot-air balloon launches, music, homemade crafts, art, and food vendors. It is in the summer.
Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity Monastery: A Trappist monastery is a community of monks living a contemplative life of work and prayer. The monastery which was founded in 1947 is self-sustaining through the farming of cattle, hay and barley. There is also a book store and gift shop featuring the famous Trappist Creamed honey in 14 flavors. Check out the gift store and hopefully get a chance to listen to the monks chant.
Shopping: Shopping is not the major attraction in the Ogden Valley, but we do have the Valley Market grocery store, Dottie Becks which is a gift store with amazing finds, Chic Style which sells women's and children's clothing and the South Fork Mercantile. Nearby in Ogden you can find everything from boutique to box stores.
Winter: ski, snowboard, cross country ski, snowmobile, snow shoes, ice fish, hot air balloon ride, heli-ski, heli-board, snow kite, sleigh ride, sled, ice fish. For more info on heli skiing/boarding, visit Diamond Peaks Heli Ski.
Spring: horseback ride, golf, hot air balloon ride, fish, mountain climb, kayak, canoe, mountain bike
Summer: golf, hike, mountain bike, boat, fish, swim, jet ski, rock climb, horseback ride, go to a concert, hot air balloon ride, raft, tube the river, kayak, canoe, go bouldering, Powzilla tours, ATV
Fall: horseback ride, bird watch, amazing fall colors, hot air balloon ride, fish, hunt, mountain bike, rock climb, kayak, canoe
Snowbasin, Powder Mountain and Wolf Mountain are open during the summer and winter months
